The Logic & Larry Podcast

Larry discusses the tragedy in Colorado, and breaks down constructive, feasible, and sensible ways that we can begin to fix the problem with have with an epidemic of gun violence in this country. We can do it via mental health treatment, and sensible reforms and federal laws which pertain to access to weapons. He discusses with gun types and categories play a useful role in helping to solve a problem that has plagued us for far too long.

Infrastructure and COVID are also briefly discussed. 

 

Mark calls in and discusses the gun issue, including other aspects of constitutional doctrine and competing political calculations which are relevant to the overall discussion.

New Episode is out!

This week's theme was: "Straw Men"

We discussed the latest controversy involving NCAA basketball players and being paid, especially the latest involving Rutgers Guard Geo Baker. 

The massage parlor shooting in Atlanta, and how it relates to other mass shootings in America, as well as some of the misplaced narratives associated with the story. 

Rick and Scyren changed the conversation, and discussed some of the ongoing issues regarding our society and gender.

We delved into "cancel culture" on this one, and discussed how it takes our focus off of more important and critical issues in our society. We also discussed the media and twitter's role in all of it. 

Friend of the show, Neil Elko joined us once again to break down certain aspects of the new stimulus bill and to let people know what they should expect from it. We also discussed a recent hazing incident, and what it means for university Greek Life, as well as how media reports on the story suffer from many of the same problems as our recent discussion on cancel culture and snap-judgement/narrative.

We discussed the 2nd impeachment trial, and the evidence that was presented, as well as whether Trump will be convicted.  We also talked about where the "line" is and should be in terms of being objective and standing up for what is right and truthful. We also discussed places where all sides of the political spectrum are failing in this respect and could do better based on current events from this week. 

Special guest Charles Riley, a Journalist from the Jersey shore area, discussed the present challenges he faces while conducting writing stories in an objective and practical manner. He and Larry also got into a deeper discussion regarding the current state of identity politics, the conflict between left/center, and how all of these things effect society and voting patterns.

"The Games People Play"

This week, we broke down the news, and discussed why almost all of it seemed to be coming out in the form of partisan or strategic messaging. We attempted to hash out the objective situations within the rhetoric regarding:

-The Taylor Greene committee vote

-The impeachment proceedings

-The capitol riots and their fallout between Ted Cruz and AOC

-The impending stimulus package and what it entails

Rick called in and added to the discussion with additional examples.

The Gamestop and Robinhood stock controversey has dominated headlines this week.

Larry sat down with Neil, who has experience with the finance sector, and who was able to provide a substantial amount of valuable information on the situation. A ton of knowledge was shared, and I invite all of you to tune in and partake in it. 

Larry also broke down this week's other news, including information on new COVID variants and vaccines, what is going on with 3rd Stimulus checks, and other headlines, as well as some local news.

Larry discusses this week's news, including the continued fallout from the Capitol riots, inauguration security, Trump's plans, and Biden's proposed stimulus package, as well as explores how the recent riots are an example of the risk of conspiracy theories and fast spreading misinformation. He also discusses how social media and the recent banning of certain people affect free speech, and what those platforms can do going forward, to better our dialogue. 

 

The second half of the podcast features an epic battle of ideas between Rick and Larry as to whether there truly is a "They" and whether there is an "Us vs. Them" in terms of the people and the government. No matter what side of the political spectrum you fall under, this was a great exchange of ideas and a solid back and forth that will go down as one of the better debates on the show.
